Japan's trade is now experiencing the 'Indian boom'.

Rapid trade expansion is occurring between the two countries, which is likely to fuel the growth of Indian apparel exports to Japan.

India and Japan share an excellent trade relationship. India is one of the three countries with whom Japan has a security pact, the other two being US, and Australia. Trade relations between the two countries flourished due to the establishment of diplomatic ties after the II World War.

Bilateral trade between Japan and India Product group : Apparel
Apparel imports into Japan have witnessed a positive mark in the last five years. Japan im- ports from the world of.24966.46 USD million. In 2022. Indian export to Japan has also seen growth, with India capturing a share of 0.89% in 2018, which increased to 0.96% in 2022. GLOCAL VISION 18
The above table shows that Japan is the fourth largest coun- try after the USA, Germany and France imports apparel products worldwide.

Indian garments capture a meagre share of 1% in total garment imports into Japan. Our major competition comes from Chi- na, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Cambodia etc. However, currently, China is facing some challenges in the low-cost apparel man- ufacturing sector that has affected their export performance
